Happy 10th Birthday Nintendo GameCube

May the 3rd 2002 saw the release of the most excellent Nintendo GameCube onto European soil.

Believe it or not, Today marks the 10th anniversary of this!

This was the console follow up to the ‘game changing’ N64

The Nintendo GameCube had a life span of just under 5 years, it was discontinued in February 2007.

The GameCube had a few dirty little secrets including:
When the power is activated, if a user holds the "Z"-button on the Player 1 controller, a squeaking sound, and then a baby laugh will be heard.

Holding the "Z"-button simultaneously on a controller plugged into each port will produce a Japanese oriental style sound effect with a man shouting a battle cry

On the same day in 2002 Spider-Man the movie was also released

An exclusive of Japan, the Panasonic Q was a special GameCube which had a built in DVD player. It came with a grey GameCube controller and it required a specifically made Gameboy Player due to the shape of its legs being different from the Nintendo GameCube.

Top games of this Nintendo powerhouse include:

Mario Kart Double Dash
The Legend Of Zelda – The Wind Waker
The Legend Of Zelda – Four Swords Adventures
The Legend Of Zelda – Twilight Princess
F-Zero GX
Super Mario Sunshine
Metal Gear Solid – Twin Snakes
