1992 - A golden year for football?

Exclusive! Konamis first football game - HYPER SOCCER - NES

So I decided to go right back and get some nostalgia from football games... Personally I don't remember this one but figured, "Its Konami, its gotta be good... Right?"

WRONG!!

This game is not only awful looking, but also very, very difficult, boring, long and massively inaccurate!

At the same time it was released back in 1992, Neil Kinnock resigned as leader of the Labour Party, Alan Shearer became Britain's most expensive footballer in a £3.6 million transfer from Southampton to Blackburn Rovers, Nigel Mansell announced his retirement from Formula One racing, the 1992 UEFA European Football Championship final tournament was hosted by Sweden, Arsenal footballer Jack Wilshere and Man Utd footballer Phil Jones were born and finally Benny Hill and Frankie Howard sadly passed away...

If you're still not familiar with the year then maybe you should just watch the video of me playing the game...

To sum it up, I chose England vs Scotland, noticed that England had 12 bonus points for some strange reason, then had a few shots on goal in the 10 minute first half (Luckily edited for all you lovely people) watched the half time photos which included the treats of a manager doing something dodgy to one of the players, a group of large Playstation Move controllers on the pitch and finally an angry looking player with a dead ghost over his shoulder... Second half kicked off and the two highlights were watching the goal replay which went to the other side of the net that I scored in and the full time picture of the crowd which included totally different colours to those of the actual teams (England wearing blue and Scotland wearing pink obviously) and a few banners with the word "fight" on them...

This was one of the hardest 20 minutes of my life but it was made worthwhile by how much I enjoyed editing it down to 3 minutes...
